Stephanie Miller

I’m Stephanie Miller and I am so excited to be a part of Heritage Christian Tutorial.  I am serving as a founding board member and will also be teaching students in the upcoming school year.  I have been involved in education for my entire adult life.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University and moved to St. Mary’s County to teach at Mechanicsville Elementary School, where I  taught 4th-1st grade.  I took a break when my twin daughters were born and then returned to Lexington Park Baptist Preschool where I taught Kindergarten.  I became a homeschool mom for my daughters from their 5th to 8th grade years and was a tutor for Homeschool Christian Academy.  I then spent ten years teaching middle school language arts and 6th grade at Kings Christian Academy. For the past three years, I have been working as a dyslexia reading therapist, tutoring children one-on-one.  I truly enjoy working with children, showing them that learning can be fun, and helping them to discover their gifts.  I also love teaching  children about our awesome God and helping them to grow in their faith. 

I have lived in St. Mary’s County for over thirty years with my husband, Frank, who supports the military community as a contractor.  Frank also has been a volleyball coach for many years- most recently at Leonardtown Highschool and runs the USA volleyball travel league for St. Mary’s County.  We have also served in our church as youth leaders, Sunday school teachers and have gone on several missions trips.  I like to read,cook, take long walks, participate in my women’s Bible study, travel, and spend time with friends and family. I am very excited to work with the families at HCT by providing a fun, inviting place of community for our students and encouraging parents as they homeschool their children.
